Exploring the Miraculous Om Banna Temple: A Unique Experience in Rajasthan

The Om Banna Temple, also known as the Bullet Baba Temple, is a one-of-a-kind temple located in the Indian state of Rajasthan. As a traveler, visiting this temple was a unique experience that gave me an insight into the local beliefs and culture.

The temple is dedicated to the deity "Om Banna" and is famous for its motorcycle that is enshrined within its premises.

The story of the Om Banna Temple begins with a man named Om Singh Rathore, who was riding his motorcycle on a dark night in 1988 when he lost control and crashed into a tree. Om Singh died on the spot, but the motorcycle miraculously survived the accident. The police impounded the motorcycle and took it to the station, but it disappeared the next morning and was found at the accident site. The police then took the motorcycle to the station again, and the same thing happened. This continued several times until the locals built a shrine at the accident site and began to worship the motorcycle as a miracle. The locals believe that the motorcycle is possessed by the spirit of Om Singh Rathore, and it is now worshipped as a deity.

It was fascinating to hear about how a motorcycle survived an accident and how it became a deity that is worshipped by the locals. The story of Om Singh Rathore and his motorcycle is a testament to the power of faith and belief.

I was driving around Rajasthan. It was 2 weeks road trip that we started from Bangalore.

After exploring mighty Kumbhalgrah fort our next destination was Jodhour. On the way near Pali, Om Banna Temple is located on the National Highway 62.

As I approached the Om Banna Temple, I was amazed at how many people were there. There were many locals and tourists stopping by to pay their respects to the Bullet Baba. The temple itself is a small structure, but it is easy to spot as it is adorned with offerings from the devotees.

As I entered the temple, I was struck by the strong smell of tobacco and liquor. I learned that these are the offerings that are given to the Bullet Baba by the devotees. I am not sure why and how its started but everyone was carrying a bottle of liquor for offering.

It was interesting to see how the motorcycle is cleaned and worshipped every day, and how the locals tie threads around it for good luck and protection. The devotees believe that the spirit of Om Singh Rathore protects the travelers on the highway and brings good luck and prosperity to those who worship him.

My visit to Om Banna Temple was a unique and unforgettable experience. While my thinking around worshipping motorcycle, offering liquor might be different from local belief but it was fascinating to see how a simple motorcycle had become a symbol of faith and devotion for the people. It was a great opportunity to witness the spirituality and culture of Rajasthan.
